Abarth 130TC recieving a new clutch

The red Abarth 130TC required a new clutch after it failed while on a track day. Oil contamination was to blame for the failure as no slippage occurred prior to failure. The replacement took 5 hours in total which was achieved by just pulling the box off enough to remove and fit the new clutch while keeping the gearbox in place.
The performance on track was most impressive and I was more than happy with the performance of the big brakes with no fade what so ever no mater how hard the car was pushed. The track day was an Alfa club track day, the Abarth was flying in comparison to the Alfa. I can safely say the Abarth comes out on top when it up against GTV6's, 155 Twin Sparks and 75's of all engine types. Even the Tipo 16V, the Strada Abarth's successor couldn't keep pace with the Abarth - so I take my hat off to the Abarth engineers who truly new what they were doing. The below pictures show the clutch plate and cover damage

Suspension development to follow the recent track day
Although the performance on the track day was good I couldn't help but feel it could be made better. There were of course no complaints about the engine other than it ran fairly hot (oil and water) or gearbox but the suspension and tyre wear was another matter. Turn in was not to bad but the Abarth suffers from rolling over onto the outside of the tyre as the below picture shows

This picture although not the sharpest shows that only the outside half has been used due to roll. This is simple to sort will additional negative camber and will transform the overall grip levels and tyre wear. The ideal wear pattern is of course an even wear across the entire tread. A little tweaking before the next track day in August and the Abarth will really be flying !
