124 Abarth Engine Makes way for Turbo Power- But not 16v turbo power!

The 124 project has made a few developments in the couple of weeks. While the intention was to fit the 16v turbo balancer shaft type engine to the 124, time has conspired against me and forced me to rethink my plans. Since time is always a factor in finishing a project and the fact I'm running out of time, I've decided to do the sensible thing and go for an easier engine solution – 8v turbo power. This is going to save a stack of time and accelerate the project forward in so much as I now don't have to cut the bulk head for the water connections on the 16v head and rig up a starter motor adapter plate, oh and not to mention reversing the flow of the head which was going to take some doing.

No instead I've opted to use a ‘spare' 8v turbo block I had laying around – as you do – and use a head of the correct flow configuration. I will of course be using Integrale spec cams and ECU fuel management along with small quick spool turbo, gas flowed head and group A head gasket. Power will still be roughly the same rating as the 16v engine at 210hp but without the trouble of making the 16v fit. This will also look much neater in the engine bay and more OEM feel.
