Fiat 124 Spider Integrale Turbo restoration - part 2 priming
Once the rear arches were replaced the American spec side repeaters were banked out. Minor repairs were made to any dents and the body cleaned up. Doors, bonnet and boot lid were stripped of paint and dents removed. Repairs were made to any rust by cutting out the rust and replacing with new metal. The panels are then replaced and the body painted with a blocking undercoat to prevent any reaction from the old paint. The body is then primed and then a tracer coat applied to show up any imperfections when blocking down by hand with wet and dry 800 grade sand paper. The below picture shows a couple more repairs after rubbing by hand showed a couple of subtle dents on the bonnet. Subtle dents are the most difficult to pick up on bare panels as they only show up when the surface has a sheen on it.
The below picture clearly show the tracer black paint specs which help identify any imperfections
Finally the inside the boot and bonnet are painted.
